It has been a grueling month of off season training with all the newcomers to the sport coming on to the team. We have at least 30-40 very talented members raring to go to play the game of rugby. Our coaches Axel (Alex), the backs coach, and Stokes (Ryan), the coach of the forwards, have been working hard in order to get us ready for this season and hopefully making it far into the post season to make a real run at the championships.
Our coaches believe that we have a lot of raw, unpolished talent in our forwards as well as the backs. The front lines of the forwards are going to be a force to be reckoned with, having two very large and strong props including a returning Richmond All-Star prop by the name of Josh "The Tank". A three star tackler, but a solid five in terms of collective running speed, strength, and overall ability to succeed in the scrum.
Our other returning backs are a never ending well of energy, they could iron man the entire game and then some going 110% every play. The team will be counting on major role players in Taylor "T.O.", as well as "Mr. Athlete" Jeff. This dynamic duo are unstoppable when they get the ball, especially Jeff. A solid 5 in terms of athletic ability when he takes off on big, long, powerful strides and when he gets going he can't be stopped unless you get at least 4 guys to tackle him at once. T.O. is one of the teams leaders in terms of knowing the game and getting the big plays. A five star player and most likely the best hitter on the team with an incredible aptitude for the game of rugby.
sounds like its going to be a good year! Good luck josh!
ReplyDeleteJosh, to reach to 110% is impossible, but reaching for the unreachable is. Go out there and run over someone.
